Cell phones Because the wellness center is supposed to be a tranquil and stress-reducing experience, it’s best to leave cell phones and pagers at home or turn them off before entering the day spa.
Communicating your preferences All aspects of treatment can usually be modified to your taste: amount of light, kind (or absence) of music, room temperature, and whether or not you choose to have a conversation or enjoy the treatment in silence. If you want the therapist to go deeper or be gentler, let him or her know. Also, feel free to ask questions. Your therapist will appreciate knowing your thoughts and clarifying any issues you may have. If any part of your experience is unsatisfactory, please tell us.
Eating and drinking Try not to eat for at least an hour before a treatment, and avoid the consumption of alcohol on the day of a treatment. Drink plenty of water before and afterward.
Medical conditions If you have any type of medical condition, be sure to mention it when you book an appointment. Certain treatments may not be advisable for you. Also, before your treatment begins, let your therapist know of any medical concerns.
The therapists who work at Renew Bodywork Center for Wellness are certified, licensed professionals whose primary concern is to provide service. Through education and training they are on the look-out for any potential health concerns, such as a suspicious mole, an unexplained skin fungus. Since they are not doctors and cannot diagnose, they can only state their concerns and recommend the advice of a physician.
Please be advised that if any contagious disease is noticed or suspected, services will stop at that moment and it will be explained to you that you need to see a Dr. This may be an uncomfortable conversation for both parties, however, please remember, we have your best interests at heart.
Nudity It is never required that you are unclothed in front of anyone during your appointment. Therapists are well trained in the “art of draping” which means that they leave the treatment room while you get under the sheet on the massage table, and they keep you covered at all times except for the area of the body they are massaging. They also leave the treatment room before you get up from the table. If you are uncomfortable with undressing completely, please talk to the therapist.
Parking There is shared public lot at Renew Center for Wellness. Parking id free BUT limited at certain times of Day. There is additional on street parking in adjacent neighborhood side streets within a 2-5 min walk.
Punctuality Arrive on time or early. If you are late, your treatment time will need to be shortened since the treatment room (and therapist) is generally booked after your session. After a treatment, it’s customary to vacate the room within five or ten minutes. However, you are free to spend additional time unwinding in the waiting area.
Shaving If you must shave, do so at least two hours before your scheduled appointment.
Socializing Be mindful of others. Please keep conversations at a low volume.
Sun and spa going Try to avoid the sun on the day of treatment and, in some cases, the day after.
Your Health Stay home if you are sick until at least 24 hours after you no longer have a fever (100°F or 37.8°C) or signs of a fever (without the use of a fever-reducing medicine, such as Tylenol®).
Standard Precautions As massage therapists, we work in closer proximity to our clients than most other healthcare providers. As massage therapists we follow universal standard precautions at all times.
